Genetics of common disorder
daniela.toniolo@hsr.it

The main thrust of the genetics of the next years will be to identify the gene and the genetic variants responsible for complex disorders, to provide new diagnosis and appropriate therapies. The genetics of different groups of complex disorders is the main topic of the laboratory, that uses whole genome (WG) analysis of different population cohorts, the general populations from Italy and Europe and founder populations. The phenotypes considered are related to ovarian function (ovarian failure, menarche and menopause age) as well as to hematological, endocrinological and cardiovascular disorders, cognitive functions, food preferences, and many other collected through the study of the genetically isolated population of Val Borbera and in collaborations with groups working on isolated populations from Italy and Europe.
